Eyaball Tattoo | Bod Mod Trend: Eyeball Tattoos

Forget about hipster finger mustache tats and even Bagel Heads in Japan, there’s a new bod mod trend invented by some cell mates that’s got even MSNBC’s attention. Twenty-seven-year-old David Boltjes was the guinea pig, er, first dude to be brave enough to let his prison mate stab him in the eye with an unconventional, untested, tattoo method. Dang, and here we thought those Bagel Heads injecting gobs of saline into their foreheads in the back of some random club was sketchy!

Pioneer Mr. Boltjes is serving a mere four years for fraud, but he didn’t weasel his way out of a world of pain, which he describes as similar to an ice pick jab to your peepers. Sheesh, that’d give most people the creeps! And this tough guy is just a white collar criminal. Well, now the whites of his eyes are permanently colored red. This is just the beginning of this new bod mod trend, so click on for more, including a close-up pic ... if you dare.

As for Mr. Boltjes’ cell mate, Paul Inman, who is serving a 73-year sentence for conspiracy to commit murder, assault and arson? He was reluctant at first to get the tattoo. Man, it must be pretty bad if a guy like Paul is afraid! But after a few more inmates got inked in the eyeball, he decided he’d go with a dark blue to match his crystal blue eyes. I think Anna Wintour would approve of his monochromatic look!

While no official technique has been admitted, Mr. Boltjes did mention he could have used a hypodermic needle. Ouchers! We hope, for your sake, bro, that was not how you did it!

Outside of prison, where you’re not limited by the things you can stick your eye with, a Canadian man got a similar tat last year. The bold eyeballer goes by the name Pauly Unstoppable. And it’s no misnomer because he received nearly 40 injections of light blue ink in his eyes and did not ask for mercy. Heck, he even let The Sun document it! This MSNBC interview (below) with the two prisoners is like viral video rubbernecking—you just can’t not watch!

The trend is just making its way through the penal system, but could you see these eyeball tattoos becoming popular stateside?
